準備 - 安排行程日期 / Preparation - Itinerary Planning (Dates)

知道確實的日期對安排行程來說是非常重要的，尤其是像環遊世界這種長途旅行。知道了日期，可以先預定機票，酒店；也可以知道幾月份會在哪些國家，氣候怎麼樣，有什麼特別節日。前面介紹了利用Google文件的好處。這裡就介紹如何用簡單的程式完成這項偉大的任務!

先預定一個出發日期，然後計畫在每個城市待多久，只要把出發日期+天數就是下一個的到達日期。用我的例子來說: 我們預定在2/3/2011從Newport Beach出發(C2),我們預定當天到達Phoenix (B3=C2)  在Phoenix待1天(C3=B3+1), 然後離開Phoenix 當天到達Grand Canyon (B4=C3), 如此類推。。。假設我把出發日期(C2)改了，我們計畫在每個城市花的時間不變，日期就會自動更新

It's very important to know the exact dates when planning your itinerary, especially a long RTW trip. You can book your tickets, hotels in advance, and you can check out the weather, special festival of the countries you are visiting. I previously introduced benefits of using Google Doc. Here, I will show you how to use simple formula to accomplish this mission!

First of all, set the date you are leaving. Then plan how many days you will spend in each city. Add them up, you will get the arrival date of next city. For example, we are leaving from Newport Beach on 2/3/2011 (Cell C2). We plan to arrive Phoenix the same day (B3=C2). We will spend 1 day in Phoenix (C3=B3+1). We will leave Phoenix and arrive Grand Canyon the same day (B4=C3), etc.... If I changed the departure date (C2), and we are still spending the same amount of days in each city, the date will be automatically updated.

準備 - 好好利用Google網頁/ Preparation - Make use of Google Sites

Google網頁除了讓你建立自己的網站之外，還是儲存檔案的好地方。我把每一張收據，簽證表格，保險資料及重要個人文件都上存至Google網頁。日後若需要重新打印，只要有電腦的地方就能找到備份了! 為什麼我推薦Google網頁呢? 雖然Google文件也有上傳文件以及分享功能，Google 網頁可以讓你輕鬆管理檔案。如果你更新了某個檔案，上載後網頁會自動取代舊有檔案而不是有新舊2個檔案同時存在。網頁不一定要公開，你可以選擇只跟你授權的朋友分享。比Google文件方便的是，你的朋友們也可以上傳檔案在同一個網頁上而不需要設定每個文件的授權。檔案更附有下載連結，我把每個檔案的連結都貼在Google文件適當的位置上，方便日後下載。對於有私人網站的朋友們，若有需要一個網路儲存的地方，這個功能是少不了的。無論圖片，音樂，文字，都能上傳並且提供下載連結，又沒有廣告，比一般外面的網路硬碟好用多了!

Google sites not only allows you to build your own website, but it also provides a space for you to upload your files. I uploaded all my receipts, visa application, insurance and important personal documents to my Google Sites. In case I need to re-print them in the future, I can easily access these documents on any computer. Even though Google Docs allows you to upload documents as well, I still recommend using Google Sites as your main online storage. Google Sites is easier for you to manage the files. If you have updated one of your documents and would like to re-upload it, you don't have to worry about having duplicated documents on your Google sites. It will be replaced with a newer version automatically. Moreover, you have an option to keep your sites private and only shared with friends you authorized. Your friends can upload the documents to the same website without the hassles of setting privacy settings as in Google Docs. More importantly, there is a download link for each document! I paste the link on my spreadsheets (Google Docs) so I can locate and download the file faster. For those who have their own websites and need a online storage, Google sites is perfect for you! You can upload any pictures, musics, documents and link them to your website. There are no advertisements, membership fee, etc... So much better than other famous online storage sites!

Google文件提供一個非常方便的平台

除了可以在任何有上網功能的電腦/手機閱讀或編輯你的文件之外，還能多人同時編輯。

對於2人以上旅遊，或者想跟家人/朋友討論行程安排提供很大的幫助。

我們利用Google 文件的Spreadsheet功能把機票內容，行程，酒店，簽證，開銷都清清楚楚的列好，因為他有Excel 算式的功能，可以利用簡單的算式把行程跟開支計算好。如果需要連接其他網站，只需要把網址貼上去，之後就可以瀏覽了。清楚簡單，在旅程中就不用帶著一堆筆記。

Google Docs offers a very convenient platform.
Not only you can access your document with any internet-connected computer/smartphone, but you can also edit it at the same time your friends are editing. This function is extremely helpful for those are travelling with 2 or more people, or simply want to share the itinerary with family/friends.
For us, we use Google Docs' spreadsheet function to list out our Air ticket details, planned itineraries, hotel bookings, visa information, expenses. Since Google Spreadsheet allows you to use Excel functions, we use simple formulas to plan our itinerary and calculate our expense. If you wish to add reference link, you can simply copy and paste it onto the spreadsheet, and access with a simple click! It's clear and neat! You won't have to carry all the heavy notes with you along the way.
